A Poem I Wrote - Live Well For Lez

Live Well for Lez

Four men standing along the border

drinking pints of petrol with countless

sweeteners

They’ve done that since the start

-  I need to leave

find a murky river to scrub off my sins

and to rinse my glass

The sun only rises once a day

My faith has fallen twice already

Writing nonsense painted to be poetry

Listen to the nobles of this

ravaged country

Let them take more and more

Plug in more cables and transfer

hope along borders

Maybe then things will be different     -

And one of the men comes up to me

Launches a fist at my face

Says this is lez country, don’t interfere

No one needs your polluting rhetoric here

And so I walk down the boundary

Maybe things will be cheaper there
