When I wrote my "Comments" blogpost, all the way back in October last year (I swear it was more recent...), I was sitting on just 26 comments. Since then, the tally has multiplied, and I'm sitting on 63. Sure, most of them are very short, and sure, some of them are meaningless, but I don't mind. The comments include friends, family, and readers.
I'd consider the day when this blog went into hibernation around the 21st March, and since then, I've had several comments. I'll be going through most, if not all, of them, as a thank you to you, Honourable Reader.
- Unknown: Happy (late) birthday!
Thanks for the message! It was a decent birthday, despite the whole "I want to be young again" thing.
- Unknown: 02 05 - amazing day☘
Yeah, it was. Don't know if my bigging up of 2/5/25 corresponds to how it actually turned out, though.
- TW: Congratulations on getting into Imperial!
I quite like the new questions, as someone who's applying next year, it just gives you a bit of structure and help. Not everyone has access to people who can help them write their statements so I think it makes it a bit more fair. Plus, you don't really have to answer each one, you can split the 4000 character count between the questions however you want.
Thank you for the congratulations message! I am very pleased to have somehow got an offer from apparently the second best university in the world.
Yeah, I suppose as someone who's a keen writer, I find the prospect of waffling about my life far easier than having to split it up into various questions. I know that if I had to write a Macbeth essay in sections, it would put me off compared to having to do the whole thing at once. And yeah, I agree with the idea that not everyone can get help writing - this new format could easily be more encouraging to people who don't know where to start.
I'd go so far as to argue that we should scrap the whole personal statement malarkey, though. It seems like many universities don't care enough for it anyways - Oxford certainly didn't bother that much with mine, as I got rejected after the interview (rightly so) - but I'm not sure what we'd replace it with. Having every applicant do an interview would be unrealistic, and you need some way to vet the candidates...so I guess we're stuck with this.
- Unknown: how fun
I bet it is.
- Unknown: Watch Hamilton next
I haven't been to see many musicals, but I am aware of Hamilton. As someone with a passing interest in historical events, one about Hamilton and Burr, and their duel, should be right up my alleyway. But I'm not particularly into musicals - I'd choose a documentary or theatre version instead.
- Unknown: Well thats pretty pog isnt it
2/5/25 was certainly pog.
- Unknown: Goblin curse has damage amplification
You need to stop playing Clash Royale so much.
- Unknown: 0.9/2...
I'm guessing this is a reference to a physics paper, specifically a question about amplitude. Yeah, I nearly made the same mistake myself, and to be honest almost every paper I did was littered with mistakes. I think you'll get high grades anyways, you're very capable.
- Unknown (in reference to the previous comment): This was certainly a season of great amplitude
No it wasn't, Millwall went from mid table to trying to get into the playoffs in vain. In Championship-speak, they had a typical season.
- Unknown: sybau
No.
- Unknown: Thats cool, but have u seen the new evo in clash
I haven't, but I'm sure it's rather decent. I haven't played Clash Royale for a while, but maybe I'll get back into it now I have lots of free time.
As always, keep on sending me comments. I like reading them, and it gives me joy to see them coming in!
Yeah
