I used to mention this blog not being indexed a lot back in the day. Two years ago, in my post on checking emails, I even mentioned waiting for emails from Google to see if they've finally indexed it or not. Since then, something recently changed, and I found out when I got an email from Google Search Console.
Basically, it said there had been another issue with indexing my blog...but then I later checked if any posts had been indexed (by doing site:"insert URL here"), and there it was. Several of my posts, finally indexed by Google.
Now I wouldn't have picked their selection of posts, that's for sure. Some of them are extremely cringe to me, dating back as far as three years ago. Now I wonder if starting this blog in the first place was a good idea. There are two pages worth of blogposts, though, ranging from musings on old photos to poems to write-ups on Horley. The least I can say is that it's an eclectic mix, for sure. It probably gets my personality across very well, especially once you read the posts (god, why did I write some of this stuff back then?). But if you search up "all over 2a blog" on Google, the first result is still a post from my second blog, -b.
That said, I don't use Google much anymore - I just thought it was a pleasant surprise when I opened my inbox that day. And sure, I still very much use Google services, but not their search engine. I've found that it's too bogged down in AI overviews which are occasionally useful, but often isn't. As of today, when you search "i am a baby deer where is mama", Google will give you tips on what to do. That's without mentioning other advertising slop, and lots of things I said in this post, I still stand by. I've personally been scaling back my own AI use, in a desperate attempt to help turn the tide back, but I fear it might be too late. Google, as it was a few years ago, is no longer the same.
On all other search engines, AO2a has very much been indexed for ages. That's also partly why I've not been making a fuss about this for a while now. That and I no longer care about indexing - part of me wants to stay desperately hidden online, even if it's far too late for that. In fact, it's not even the first time I've ever been indexed - this post used to be on Google years back.
But I thought this was very cool, so I've decided to share it. I no longer need to care about indexing!
