Summer's over, it was fun while it lasted. For about three days in London, it was boiling hot, with temperatures above 30℃, with a peak of 35℃. These were some of the hottest days in May ever, and that might be down to climate change, so add some caution to any joy you might take from this. And to be honest...I kind of liked it.
I'm not a big fan of warm weather. I've been on so many holidays around the Mediterranean, and when I was younger, I was a much bigger fan of the shade. Since then, I've become way more tolerant of high temperatures, not to the point I'll spend all day outside, but enough that I don't swelter into a puddle of incomprehension. I sometimes need to sit next to a fan and always need a window open, though.
I even had a nice day out to Brighton, recently, with my family. Not the kind where I can write a post about it, even if I will one day, but enough to bask in the sun on the rocky pebble beach. Loads of people were there, too, and it was probably similar elsewhere along the southern coast. That said, chips cost a right fortune by the beach, and I spent more money than I intended to.
Now, though, it's all coming to an end. Looking at the weather forecast ahead, lots of the days have high chances of rain. June is getting off to a more miserable start, as expected. Whilst I'm not sure if this will be the hottest this year gets, I wouldn't be surprised if summer is spectacularly drab, as it has been over the past few years. That's the British way, isn't it?
