RSS woes

In a few minutes, you'll see a lovely post I was planning to publish tomorrow. RSS decided that couldn't be, and so anyone who reads that post through RSS basically got a massive head start over readers who click here directly. Now it is my fault - I very briefly published the blog to check some HTML code I made, I messed up the publishing date, and a few seconds later, Inoreader told me there was a new AO2a post out. How fun.

I'm actually a fan of RSS...in the sense that I tolerate it. Who knows, maybe most readers of AO2a use RSS to read this blog, in which case hi, you're missing out on the comments section. I'd love to know what you think of this place! I personally prefer going straight to a blog's homepage :P

The thing is, RSS just feels too antiquated for me to want to use it. It's just more hassle and doesn't improve my reading experience. It's only really useful if I want to read a blog with an inconsistent schedule, and I'd otherwise miss it. There are a few blogs like that which I rely on RSS to get me to read their stuff, but the rest...well, I trust them to publish at a regular time. I get I'm firmly in the inconsistent schedule camp, so that makes me a hypocrite, but idk, RSS isn't for me.

Plus you can't actually get rid of stuff from RSS, and edited posts won't always change with RSS. Those are both really important for me, which is another reason why I dislike it. But who knows, maybe I just need to get everything right the first time!

By the way, do you use RSS? Are you a blogger who's as pissed off at RSS as I am? I'd love to hear your thoughts: please share any comments you have, or better yet, send me an email through this link!
